Blue Monday, the third Monday in January, is often called the most depressing day of the year. Many people experience feelings of sadness, low motivation, and fatigue around this time. While some may question the science behind Blue Monday, it has become a wonderful opportunity to shine a light on mental health awareness and the importance of self-care. So, let’s use this day to take a moment for ourselves and check in on our well-being!

How to Cope with depression, or feeling blue?

Dealing with Blue Monday and those feelings of sadness or depression can be tough, but remember, you’re not alone! Taking care of yourself and reaching out for support can really make a difference. Here are some friendly tips to help you feel better:

  • It’s OK not to be OK! Just remember to take a moment to recognize those feelings and try to challenge any negative thoughts that might be swirling around.   • Take some time for self-care! Try to engage in activities that make you feel good, like going for a walk, meditating, or diving into a hobby you love.
  • Set Realistic Goals! Take one step at a time! Breaking tasks into smaller, manageable pieces can make things feel a lot less overwhelming.
  • Cut Down on Stress! Whenever you can, try to limit the things that stress you out, and don’t forget to be gentle and kind to yourself.
  • Don’t hesitate to reach out! Chat with friends, family, or a mental health professional to share how you’re feeling and find the support you need.
